Opening the Windows

We've had quite the week.

Beginning with:

a double ear infection

a sprained ankle,

croup,

and the flu,

swarming through the house,

We gladly welcomed the beautiful sunny 80 degree weather.

And ate breakfast outside this morning.

Celebrating the big 33

My Handsome Hubby had a birthday this weekend...

And the kids were so excited that they kept this secret...

Sophia saved her earnings (which includes teaching Josh piano for a quarter a day) and bought her dad a rake and Mint Medley (the Bigelow tea).

And the boys didn't slip...Amazing!

(In case you were wondering, she hid it in her closet.)

We sure do love this man.

The Light

And Jesus said...

I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.

Little Eggsessive

We are enjoying our spring break. There is nothing pressing on the agenda...love that. We have a few egg projects going on around here.

I enjoy pulling out my saved favorite dyed eggs from the previous years (blown, of course!).

Sophie decorated the tree.

For the last several weeks, this great idea has been circulating. So a couple of weeks ago, we each picked out our favorite seeds. Sophia picked out sweet peas. Micah picked out sunflowers. Josh picked pumpkin seeds and I (love my) zinnias. I was hoping they would be sprouting by Easter, but no sign yet. We are responsible for taking care of our own seeds (so I'm hoping this will be good practice for our garden this summer).

The kids helped me fill the eggs for the big Easter Egg Hunt Saturday. This time we're going to color code the eggs for the little ones so that they won't be left out.
Wanting to make some sugar cookies but not having a egg cookie cutter, I just used half of a plastic egg and it worked very well.

Finally, here are Josh's favorite eggs. They are called Resurrection Eggs and they tell the Easter Story.

Color

As the lack of sun affects some near the end of winter, so does the lack of color for me. I get so excited to look out my window and see color. It raises my spirits.

Green never looks more brilliant and pastels more welcoming.

To bring the color in is just as exciting. I have wonderful little flower-pickers who enjoy it just as much as I do.
